My husband has been dumping on my bike for a few months. He kept telling me that I’d outgrown my Cannodale Quick 6, but I wanted to keep riding it for sentimental reasons. It was the first bike I’ve had since I’m 12, and is truly responsible for a positive all-encompassing change in my life, outlook, and health.
My beloved OLD bike
So I have been reticent to talk about replacing my trusty bike. I had everything on it, as you can see. I call it my Mexican bike- which is OK and not racist because I’m Colombian and we’re worse- because it has EVERYTHING on it: computer, bottle holder, rack lock holder, mirror, super horn, you name it, my bike’s got it. All I need is a horn that plays “La Cucaracha,” and I’m set.
When a bike-shaped present showed up under my tree I had mixed feelings. I was excited to see my new bike, but I felt like I was cheating on my Cannondale. On Christmas Eve, per Latin American tradition, I opened my gift and hate to say my little Cannondale was blown out of the water.

That’s almost too pretty to ride! I say save that bike for weekends, keep that C-Dale for every day riding. There is no such thing as too many bicycles. And give your husband a big kiss for the gift. That’s very nice!
You have a great point- today is raining and snowy, and I didn’t have the heart to take it out, I took the C-dale!
I’m speaking from experience. My old steel Bianchi (still my prettiest bike) is what I ride outside and inside during the winter and on nasty summer days. The titanium Serotta gets a rest this time of year. I have an old Univega hybrid that I have set up a lot like your Cannondale. That old Cannondale frame is still nice, by the way.

LOL — I guess it’s allowed. I have “Celeste” colored bottle cages on my Bianchi. Some guys think that is girly.

Better than saying “puke green”. That is what I used to call Bianchi Celeste color before I bought my Bianchi.

Yeah, well, I had to embrace my feminine side to accept the term. The bike is a beautiful bike, so that makes saying “Celeste” perfectly acceptable to me.
When I was in graduate school, for reasons that I will not reveal, I couldn’t drive. I would ride my bike to the University of Maryland (go Terps!) every day. That was many moons ago. I kept that bike for a long time, It was a steel racer and very heavy. After about 25 years I got a newer one in a garage sale and Freecycled the old one. The “new” one has been hanging in my garage for about one year with a busted brake cable.
Lets fix it up and go for I ride! I’ll drive mine out to you

Real nice! You’ll have the variety of riding the new or taking the antique out for a leisurely spin… having 2 bikes will have the Jones’ trying to keep up with you!
I know! Many of my neighbors are cyclists as well (because DC is such a great cycling city!) and I can’t wait to show off my new baby! Too bad the weather isn’t cooperating!
